The Writer's Journey - A discussion with Ian Frazier and Susan Shapiro
Tuesday, September 13
8:00 PM
FREE and OPEN to THE PUBLIC
Join best-selling authors Susan Shapiro and her mentor, The New Yorker writer Ian Frazier as they share their unique writing journeys. They'll discuss crossing genres from fiction to nonfiction, as well as how to break into publishing. A lively Q&A is a given with this pair, and they'll read from their most recent books, Hogs Wild by Frazier and What's Never Said by Shapiro.
According to People, Frazier's Hogs Wild is "perfectly groomed comic prose ... It is the essence of society as we know it that concerns Frazier. That he is hilarious is just a bonus." Erica Jong says of Shapiro, " her voice is so passionate and honest, it's bewitching."
Ian Frazier is also the author of Travels in Siberia, Great Plains, The Fish's Eye, On The Rez, and Family, as well as Coyote V. Acme and Dating Your Mom, all published by FSG. A frequent contributor to The New Yorker, he lives in Montclair, New Jersey.
Susan B. Shapiro is The New York Times bestselling author of 10 books, including the acclaimed memoirs Five Men Who Broke My Heart, Lighting Up, and Only As Good As Your Word. She co-authored the nonfiction books Unhooked and The Bosnia List, and she's the author of the novel What's Never Said, published by Heliotrope Books. Shapiro writes for The New York Times, Washington Post, and L.A. Times and teaches at The New School and in private classes and workshops.
